Born in Andria on 26 July 1908, Cardinal Ursi was ordained on 25 July 1931, the day before his 23rd birthday. He was consecrated as Bishop of Narḍ on 30 September 1951 and made Archbishop of Acerenza on 30 November 1961 before being transferred to Naples on 26 May 1966. He resigned as Archbishop of Naples on 9 May 1987.
