Archangel Raphael

St Raphael, one of the seven archangels, is also one of the three angels mentioned by name in the Scriptures.

St Raphael is spoken only once in the Scriptures, in the Book of Tobit, one of the deuterocanonicals. He was traditionally thought to be the angel mentioned in John 5:4 as he is revered as having great healing powers. However, most modern translations of the Scriptures delete this verse as not being authentic.

His feast day is 29 September.
